A night of cheese, chocolate and great company

If my mom had covered the veggies in gruyere when I was a kid, we wouldn’t have had any problems. Man, that was a great dinner we had last night at The Melting Pot, which is this chain of fondue restaurants. We went to the Darien, Conn., location. I was with 3 girlfriends and we shared what’s called “the Big Night Out” — four courses starting off with a cheese fondue, followed by a salad, then the entree and capped off by chocolate fondue dessert.

Wish I could take you there, you would totally enjoy it. The entree included shrimp, marinated chicken, beef, sushi-grade ahi tuna, some vegetable dumplings. We had a fun time doing some “search and rescue” — that’s when the meat falls off the color-coded skewers and you use this slotted spoon to scoop it out.

And the dessert, oh my God the dessert … they had these oreo cookies-coated marshmallows, squares of brownies and pound cake, fresh strawberries AND this amazing cheesecake. I’m not a huge cheesecake fan, so when I gush about cheesecake, it’s AWESOME cheesecake.

The food was wonderful, the company great, so pretty good way to cap off the week, eh?
