the japanese had me hooked

had a bit of a laugh sunday when my cousins and i were at the huge mall over in rockland. one of the stores sold sanrio stuff. remember those? popular japanese brand from the ’70s. hello kitty and keroppi (the frog)? probably not. when i was a kid, i had a lunch box, pencil holders, erasers and even plastic dolls of the little twin stars (one of them had a name considered bastos among kapampangans) that i could dress up.

one time, i saw a hello kitty bag that i really liked and asked my mom to buy it. mom said no, adding i didn’t need it because i already had one. i remember pouting all the way home and vowing that when i grew up and had a job, i’d buy dakal dakal a bag (many, many bags). i recalled that day when i saw this display.

and no, i didn’t buy anything this time around.

i'm sure you expected this question: what's the name of the twin star with the bastos-sounding name? πŸ˜› else, i'll google it namu πŸ˜€

you know what i wanted to buy when i grew up and had money? aside from food of course… a space shuttle. i guess i watched too much battlestar galactica as a kid.
