balanced diet… not!

guess what i made for dinner. my cardiologist would be thrilled… or appalled whichever way you want to look at it. we had some leftover pomelo and the last of the summer season’s mangoes and tiny, tiny grapes so i made a thai-inspired pomelo salad. good thing my mom brought home some lime (dayap) so that’s what i used for dressing, together with brown sugar, fish sauce, vinegar and honey. of course there had to be a bird’s eye chili (and it was lethal). one taste of the salad and my mom complained it was too hot ๐Ÿ™‚ but it was good for me, what’s better than a chilled, salty-sweet-sour-spicy fruit salad?

it goes really good with the fried pork dumplings i made and the pig’s ears barbecue my brother bought in the stand near betis church. the pig’s ears were charred, crunchy, fatty and gelatinous. the perfect foil for the salad. yum!

    those are fried pork dumplings? for some reason, i thought they were chicharong bulaklak.

    now that you mentioned it, now i wish they were chicharon bulaklak. hmmm. that should be a good combo: chicharitos with pomelo salad. the acidity should cut through the richness of the intestines. i'll file this in my things to eat list.
