what do you do when life gives you apples and walnuts? make waldorf salad of course 🙂 you remember the caramelized walnuts i posted recently? we were in the grocery today and i saw some romaine lettuce so i thought of making some salad for dinner. do you know that sm supermarket now sells salad ingredients “tingi-tingi” style? the vegetables are pre-cut and you simply choose which ones you like from the trays, then they are weighed per kilo. it’s like wendy’s salad bar gone homestyle 🙂 this applies for fruit salad, too.
anyway, to go with this salad were croutons and chunks of chicken breast. since this was a bastardized waldorf, i though of making some honey-mustard dressing from yellow mustard, apple cider vinegar, canola oil and honey made by filipino bees 🙂 first time to make the dressing from scratch and it turned out pretty good. we had it with pork steaks. this salad shall make a return 🙂
