suwam na mais

which protein do you prefer in your suwam na mais (fresh corn soup): chicken, crab, shrimp or frog? for me it’s a close contest between crab and frog, with crab winning by not much. it’s best when the fat of the crab oozes out into the soup, and then you crack the crab legs and excess soup pours out from it. do you eat the other “legs” of the crab? we do. don’t underestimate those thin legs, they hold a lot of meat. 😛

i much prefer this over the chinese-style crab and corn soup, although they have the same ingredients. somehow this suwam just tastes better. 😀

man, this is sooooo perfect for the weather right now (i'm repeating myself, but you keep posting these amazing soupy dishes!). another snowstorm is on its way. supposed to arrive tomorrow night — can't think of anything better than staying home and enjoying this swam mais. i like the crab version — i don't think i've had the frog version, though 😦 and yes, i love the “smaller” legs 🙂

sorry, this post seemed to have brought a lot of memories for its readers, and a real yearning for comfort food in cold weather. i can't blame you. i was looking at this picture yesterday and wanted some for myself 😀 when you go home, you gotta try the frogs.
