lunch of a true carnivore

been so busy the entire week that i didn’t get the chance to cook anything. yesterday, i dropped by tarry market to see what delicious ravioli they have concocted and found they had something with braised beef 🙂 bought some and am planning a brown butter sauce for that.

i also lucked out and found them just taking out a couple of roasts from the oven. honestly, i was torn between the prime rib and the lamb. what a great dilemma to have 😉 anyway, i went with the steak and promised myself to come back and get the lamb next time around. i also got a side of butternut squash caponata. it was good, but a little too sweet for my taste. must have been the golden raisins.

that steak looks really good. what sauce did you have with this? the squash caponata is just squash with golden raisins? (that combination does sound sweet). true carnivore dish, i don't see any greens 😀

no sauce. didn't need any at all, just it's natural juice. man, it was soooo tender. the caponata included squash, raisins, some tomatoes.

ever tried beef sashimi? by the way that looks, you won't have any problem with beef tartare or with beef sashimi (or its african cousin, kitfo)

i've never had beef sashimi. i mean, with this steak, the middle is pink but not raw. i guess the beef would have to be sliced really thinly and there has to be some sort of a “cooking” agent such as lemon or lime ala ceviches.
