funny your last post below had toppings of corn… which is the subject of this post. when you think of summer merienda (or pinoy merienda in general), corn — whether boiled, fried or roasted — cannot be far from the top of the list. i always preferred the boiled ones, those that were sold in a big tin can of boiling water peddled atop a wooden cart (talk about dangerous food).
do you also remember the dari creme commercial where chunks of margarine melted off the hot cob? i relived that tv ad yesterday, with a generous sprinkling of rock salt. can you spell a perfect afternoon snack?! 🙂
