sweet corn


funny your last post below had toppings of corn… which is the subject of this post. when you think of summer merienda (or pinoy merienda in general), corn — whether boiled, fried or roasted — cannot be far from the top of the list. i always preferred the boiled ones, those that were sold in a big tin can of boiling water peddled atop a wooden cart (talk about dangerous food).

do you also remember the dari creme commercial where chunks of margarine melted off the hot cob? i relived that tv ad yesterday, with a generous sprinkling of rock salt. can you spell a perfect afternoon snack?! πŸ™‚

    sorry, i've never been a dairy creme fan; we've always used anchor butter, LOL! but yeah, i do remember the big pot of boiled corn from my childhood. but this one is firmly settled on my grandmother's old clay stove. she used to sell corn during the summer, too.
