fresh mozzarela and tomatoes

the last thing i want to do when the temp outside is above 80 degrees is to slave over a hot stove for my dinner. so the options are to go with something that doesn’t involve any actual cooking or — and this is my go-to alternative; i have chinese, indian and pizza places on the my speed dial — get take-out 😛

opted for the former a couple of nights ago since i had a ball of fresh mozzarella, some vine-ripened tomatoes, a really nice bottle of balsamic vinegar (christmas gift from a friend) and a bottle of good olive oil. paired with a small loaf of artisanal bread, i had myself a nice … well, it’s not really a salad, it’s almost like an antipasto … so i’ll just call it early dinner 🙂

    yum! i had lunch with friends from my former office and we ate in Amici, one of my favorite italian restos here. it actually started as a canteen within don bosco makati (the salesians have a lot of italians in the order, so they know their pizza, pasta and gelatto) 🙂 i think it's been sold as a commercial enterprise but from what i've tasted over lunch, the quality of food has remained very good. we had pasta vongole, spinach canneloni and a four-cheese pizza. mmmmm… all were very good. there's something magical about bread, cheese and tomatoes together 🙂
