breakfast a few days ago was at kopi roti, which serves malay and singaporean coffee (kopi) and bread (roti), and they are most famous for their kaya toast. kaya is to malays what peanut butter and jelly is to americans. it’s a pandan-flavored spread on toast with butter. similar to our coco jam but not quite like it.
and then you dunk the bread into the bowl of soft-boiled egg swimming in some soya mixture (looks like taho, which is of course also soya). the black sauce is not arnibal (sugar syrup) though. it’s a bit salty, i guess light soy sauce.
all in all a hearty breakfast (though bad for the heart). he.he.
