soppressata, prosciutto and other meats

one of the things my cousins and i were looking forward to in going to italy again was eating prosciutto and other cured meats. i know, i know, we can get authentic italian products in N.Y. as well (actually, they sell some pretty good meats at tarry market.) but we’re huge fans. i like prosciutto with bread; ateng E likes to wrap it around cantaloupe.

on our first night in venice, we went to a restaurant called da carletto โ€” great place, nice folks, fairly decent price, amazing food โ€” and ordered appetizers. you don’t see the prosciutto in the photo above, just the soppressata (salami) and ham, because we pounced on it like hungry wolves ๐Ÿ˜› it was awesome. not salty but full of flavor. that little yellow bit you see on top of the salami is a pickle.

of course, we got tired of it after a while ๐Ÿ˜› after a couple of days, we were ignoring it in the breakfast room.

    you say that now. trying having it for about a week. makes you think of turning vegan.
