pho and pomelo salad

i love vietnamese food. so when friends from my previous job asked me where i wanted to eat dinner last night, i chose a vietnamese resto, pho 24, which is actually a fast-food chain in vietnam, which is presented in a little bit more upscale setting here but essentially serves the same homey stuff. (trivia, jollibee actually bought this restaurant’s mother company as part of their investments abroad. that filipino bee is really buzzing.) 🙂

we had the vegetable rolls (both fried and fresh), pomelo salad, rice noodles, and chicken rice. all delicious. made much more fun with the loads of kwento, both new and recycled, from old friends.

pomelo salad? that's the one thing you mentioned that i don't think i've tasted in a vietnamese restaturant. what's in it (well, aside from the pomelo)? what's the dressing?

it's got shrimps, shredded carrots, caramelized/deep fried onions, chives. dressing is similar to the dips for the spring rolls — vinegar, fish sauce and sugar combo (chili optional).
