Hataw sa hacao

I wanted to have a “light” lunch one day so I ordered a plain congee from Hap Chan (a Chinese resto here that is a notch higher than fast-food Chowking but not necessarily premium). I was pleasantly surprised how good their hacao were. The shrimps were whole and full. Of course these had to be dipped in chili oil with soy sauce and calamansi.

    Huh! Never knew those were called hacao. Always referred to them as shrimp dumplings. And at the dim sum places in Chinatown, I don’t even have to call them anything. I just point.
