i was craving for some mashed potatoes over the weekend and had planned to make some for dinner but i saw that we had some broccoli in the ref, so i thought of making a potato-broccoli gratin instead. i’ve always liked this dish, especially the burnt part. it seemd “sophisticated” (compared to boiling or frying potatoes) and of course, the cream and butter makes it a lot richer. i cooked this using a turbo oven.
this was a hit together with the t-bone steaks we had for dinner (too bad the steaks were rubbery, even if i didn’t cook them too much).
oh man, those potatoes look extra yummy. was this a family dinner? you went all out π corn and carrots on the side. steak with mushroom sauce. what was the occasion?
for how long did you cook the steak? grilled or pan-fried. my mom has this technique, basically flash frying thinly cut steak. doesn't take more than 2 minutes on each side. sometimes even less. steak always comes out very tender.
