Steamed Chicken in Mayo, Butter and Cheese

Have your arteries clogged up already just by reading the name of the dish? 😛 I tell you, you have got to try this if you haven’t. I have been craving this for days and I finally got to cook it today. It is actually a very simple dish, just stuff everything into the chicken and then let it steam for an hour and a half.

INGREDIENTS

1 whole chicken
1 cup mayo
1/4 cup butter (room temp)
1/2 cup cheese
3 pieces of hotdogs (or sausage), sliced in half
1 can mushrooms
1 carrot
4 small potatoes
a few strings of green beans
salt and pepper to taste
chicken powder or MSG (optional)

DIRECTIONS

1. Clean the chicken thoroughly and then season both the inside and the outside parts in salt and pepper, mayonnaise, butter, and chicken powder.
2. Put the chicken in a bowl lined with aluminum foil. When cutting the foil, make sure the size is big enough to cover the whole chicken.
3. Stuff all the hotdogs and the vegetables inside the chicken cavity. If there are excess ingredients, just put them around the chicken.
4. Cover the chicken tightly with foil. Steam for about 1.5 hours.
5. Remove the chicken from the steamer after 1.5 hours. From the liquid drippings in the pan, add a bit more butter and cheese. Let it reduce until the gravy is thick or velvety.
6. Serve the chicken hot over bread, rice, or just with the steamed vegetables it was cooked with.

Enjoy!
